This semester I am living and studying in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam and this blog will be the online home base for all the projects I am undertaking. Firstly, it will serve as a place to just share random thoughts, experiences and reflections that I happen to have had while abroad. Facebook is blocked in Viet Nam and sometimes hard to access so if you are a friend or family member please check here first for updates.
Secondly, I will be using the Vietnamese Culture space to document important things I learn about my host countries people, history and daily life. This information will then be used as supporting research for an Honor’s Area Study project that I am undertaking with Mr. Frank Vodvarka in the Fine Arts Department at Loyola. The point of this research will be to apply Mr. Vodvarka’s research on sensory design to Vietnamese architecture and urban design. For more information you can visit the following ePortfolio site:
Finally, I will be helping out the Center for Experiential Learning through blogging about my service-learning experiences here in Saigon. Once I start working at my service site look for weekly updates and reflections about my experience.
Thank you all for reading! It means a lot to me that you’re taking time out of your days to see what I’m up to all the way over here in South-East Asia. Please comment on anything and everything and feel free to contact me if you have questions!
